About Nevquo Pixel
Nevquo Pixel is a free image optimizer that runs entirely in your web browser. It makes pictures smaller without making them look worse, and your pictures never leave your device.
Why it exists
Large images are the most common reason websites feel slow, yet the usual fix is to hand your files to somebody else's server. We wanted a tool that gives you the same result with nothing uploaded, no account, no email address and no cap on how many images you process. Nevquo Pixel is made by Nevquo.
What makes it different
- You choose how close, not a quality number. Pick how closely the result must resemble the original and Nevquo Pixel searches for the smallest file that meets it, with a visible score for every image. We call this the Perceptual Guarantee.
- A race between formats. Each image is tried as WebP, AVIF and JPEG or PNG, and the smallest result that passes the check wins. Our benchmarks show why one fixed format is rarely best for every image.
- Never bigger. If optimizing would not save space, your original is kept.
- Privacy built in. Hidden camera, date and GPS data is removed by default, and rotation is kept.
- Honest comparison tools. A before-and-after slider, zoom and a difference map show exactly what changed.
- Works offline. After one visit it runs without a connection, and you can install it like an app.
How it works
The image tools are well-known open-source encoders (including MozJPEG, libwebp, libavif and oxipng) compiled to WebAssembly, so they run in background threads in your browser at close to native speed. Nothing is sent to a server to be processed. You can check that for yourself in two minutes. Their licences are listed on the legal page.
What we do not do
- We do not upload, store or look at your images. The one thing the website image analyzer sends is the page address you type into it, and we do not keep it.
- We do not ask you to sign in or create an account.
- The app sets no cookies and has no analytics. Like any website, our host keeps ordinary server logs; the privacy statement explains.
Known limits
- Optimizing is lossy by design unless you choose Lossless, so keep your originals.
- AVIF can smooth fine skin texture at the Smart setting. For portraits, choose Gentle.
- Each file can be up to 300 MB. Very large images may be processed in a lighter mode.
- Auto-optimizing a folder needs Chrome or Edge on a computer.
- HEIC photos are read with an open-source decoder on your own device. HEIC uses video technology that is patented in some countries, so the legal page has a note about it.
